Funeral insurance allows individuals to prepare for their funeral and burial, thus taking some of the burden off of family and friends. For example, what will the coffin be like, where will the services be held? It sounds morbid, but it’s part of life. Funeral and burial insurance is needed.
The fact is funeral expenses will keep going up. A funeral and burial insurance supplemental policy can be all of your life insurance, or be above and beyond what you normally carry in life insurance. It is becoming very popular to purchase face amounts of around $10,000, specifically designed to cover funeral expenses. The average cost for an adult funeral expense can range from $4,500 to $5,500, about a third of that being the cost of the casket alone. In addition, an in-ground burial can add another $2,400 to the total. There will be other incidentals.*
